American Equipment Manufacturing (AEM) manufactures oilfield production equipment and tanks at a 16 acre facility in Farmington, New Mexico. The build list covers separators, heater treaters, tank heaters, tanks and tank accessories. The company also repairs and maintains oilfield equipment, and traces its design origins to American Tank and Steel Corporation, circa 1942.
AEM states that its early high-low pressure production unit became the industry standard across United States oil and gas basins. Named product lines include the American Universal Production Unit, the Indirect Heater, the High-Pressure Separator and the Pent Roof Production Unit.
## Production equipment
The production equipment range includes:
- Vertical and horizontal separators
- Heater treaters
- Free water knockouts (FWKOs)
- Vapor recovery towers (VRTs) and scrubbers
- Package units
- Filter separators and sand separators
- Gas production units and multi vessel packages
- Tanks, tank accessories and walkways
## Separators
Separators can be configured for two, three or four phase separation, and are supplied with skids, houses and a selection of internal and external coatings. Fully trimmed and dressed units are available with sized and selected components, ready for hookup and operation. The company states that its separators meet or exceed API 12J sizing calculations and suit high slug conditions.
## Heater treaters
Horizontal and vertical heater treaters are built for mild and cold weather applications. AEM states that units are engineered around fluid retention times, process velocities, the chemical makeup of process fluids and possible upset conditions, with firetubes and burners sized to follow API 12K and heat transfer or heat flux requirements.
Burner options cover AEM's own designs alongside FlameCo and Zirco burners. Skids, houses, internal and external coatings, and winter packages are also available.
## Custom builds and repair
Engineers and designers work with clients on customized units where a standard product does not fit, and the company describes specialty products as a routine part of the work. Repair and maintenance is offered across various types of oilfield equipment.
AEM cites a personalized approach to customer service, production capacity and industry knowledge as what separates it from other manufacturers. The company has sponsored The Salvation Army for many years and also lists support for St. Jude.
